A swimmer involved in a celebrity love triangle has threatened to quit the Commonwealth Games.
The former partner of Miley Cyrus is awkwardly dating his Australian team-mate's ex-girlfriend. And now Kyle Chalmers has said he’s prepared to quit given the intense press coverage about his personal life.
He wrote in an Instagram post: "After trials, I sat down and assessed whether I was going to continue on in the sport because I have given everything to this country, I have given everything to my sport.

"I was so proud at trials, winning my 10th national title, fifth in a different event, just coming back from my shoulder surgery. But instead of focusing on the positives, you guys [the media] want to focus on the negatives again. I swim butterfly because that’s my event growing up, that's what I almost qualified for my first team on.
"I wanted to have fun this year, swim a stroke that I haven't been able to do for a long time because my body has held me back, and to qualify for world championships was amazing. I say good luck to Cody, I say good job to Cody. I sent him a message after the race. I do nothing but be as positive as I possibly can. I support him on the team but again people just want clickbait on the article. It's unfortunate that I can’t do anything at this point in time but I am here to swim, I am here to race. The next story will unfold eventually."

Simpson, who has dated supermodel Gigi Hadid and Cyrus, joined professional swimming back in 2019 and qualified for the Birmingham showpiece. He is now in a relationship with Emma McKeon, who is also on the Aussie swim team with an astonishing 11 Olympic medals.
But now Chalmers has joined them at the tournament. The 24-year-old is thought to have dated McKeon in 2021 – but now they have inadvertently reunited.
Simpson, meanwhile, confirmed that he was seeing McKeon earlier this month, with his new girlfriend telling the media: "Everyone's got an opinion on everything and we have a really nice relationship and we love each other's company and that's all that matters to us. We get along so well. We're like best friends. It's refreshing and peaceful and exciting – I'm really happy."
