Golfer Paige Spiranac has hit back at online body shamers.
The 27-year-old, who turned pro in 2015 and retired the following year, has sent an important message to her Twitter followers after being subject to vicious taunts.
Paige has received an influx of support from her loyal social media supports, where she has built up millions of followers after initially deciding to share trick-shot videos.
In her post, the Colorado local stated that she is not a ‘build a bear workshop’.
She wrote: “It’s crazy I can be told I look too fat, too skinny, too plastic, too old, wearing too much makeup, not enough makeup, boobs too big, butt not big enough, too pale, hair too blonde, not blonde enough all in one day.
“Guys it’s not a build a bear workshop over here. Calm it down.”
One supporter wrote in response: “Social media is a very cruel product.
“People feel they have the ability to be critical or cruel with no fear of the impact.”
With a second adding: “Misery loves company.
“Some people are not happy until they make someone else feel bad about themselves. You are Beautiful, Inside & Out.”
A third said: “Nobody is perfect and we all have strengths and weaknesses.
“I seriously doubt any Twitter insult could make you question your inner beauty, which in the end is all that really matters.”
Spiranac said of her plans for 2021 earlier this month: “I know I’m a few days late but happy new year!
“Here’s to health, happiness, lower scores, and my same old low cut tops.”
Having said of her recent performances in December: "I don’t know how golf can bring me so much peace one day and then make me want to break every club in my bag the next.
"I love and equally hate this stupid game so much.”
