NFL star Cannon rushed to hospital after horror head and neck bend after tackle

San Francisco 49ers star Trenton Cannon has been rushed to hospital following a horror injury sustained during the opening kick-off against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night.

The NFC West division clash began in the worst possible way as the 49ers running-back suffered a major concussion, which led to an ambulance making it's way onto the field after just four seconds of play.

In an attempt to tackle Seattle's punt returner DeeJay Dallas, Cannon collided with his own teammate, before medics were rushed to the scene.

Cannon then left the field in the ambulance, and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

As the 49ers attempted to stop Dallas on the punt return, Cannon's head rammed into the leg of teammate Talanoa Hufanga, and the impact caused his head to spring back with extreme force.

To make matters worse, after the initial hit, his head then collided with the leg of another teammate as the 49ers pounced on Dallas, and his neck twisted in an awkward position with his body moving the other way.

Treatment was immediately given to Cannon, and fans and players waited anxiously to make sure that the NFL star was okay, and after medics deemed the running-back in a fit state to be moved, he was stretchered into an ambulance.

The 49ers bench came out to surround Cannon, and Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson followed soon after with his side, before the players took a knee as the star was removed from the field.

There were good signs though as Cannon was responsive when leaving the field, and ESPN have now reported that he has been diagnosed with a concussion while at the hospital.

There is no additional information on Cannon's condition as of now.
