Star’s plan to save NBA underachievers

With the NBA down for an indefinite period, most things coming out of the league are online.

The players are playing off for glory in the NBA 2K20 tournament on ESPN, a H-O-R-S-E tournament is set to bring together current and former stars, and Brooklyn Nets gun Spencer Dinwiddie is fixing one of the sports recent underachievers.

Finishing 13th in each of the last two seasons and sitting 11th and well out of contention when the NBA suspended the season, the Chicago Bulls, the franchise synonymous with Michael Jordan, is far from the heights of the 1980s and 90s.

Dinwiddie, who is one of the players who got away from the Bulls, having moved to Chicago after being traded from Detroit for Aussie Cameron Bairstow, never made it on the court for the storied franchise.

He was dropped to the D-League team the Windy City Bulls, scoring 19.4 points, 8.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game before he was waived.

The Nets then signed Dinwiddie, who found his home in Brooklyn.

In the past three seasons, he’s scored progressively more points, ending up with 20.6 per game this season with 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds and a strong starter for the side.

After Kobe Bryant’s death, Dinwiddie said his hero’s praise when he gave the Net the ultimate compliment.

“For him to tell me that in his book I’m an All-Star and stuff like that, talk about a popularity contest before and you don’t win things like that when you’re me, so for him to say that, I didn’t need to be selected any more, because I was an All-Star, you feel me, it’s not just like my family, it was the guy,” Dinwiddie said at the time.

It had been a breakthrough season in 2020 that ended prematurely with the coronavirus crisis.

Dinwiddie was potentially the one who got away from the Bulls as he has proven a strong starter and an important future piece for the Nets alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

But Dinwiddie has gone out of his way, putting in his bid to be a player/general manager and fix the wayward Bulls.

It’s come to my attention the @chicagobulls need a GM. If you say pretty please I just might come back as first ever player/GM 🤙🏾

The first move — get Dinwiddie.

First order of business we’d have to trade Satoransky for Dinwiddie and also appoint him GM. But we gonna need a pick too because Dinwiddie gets buckets.

Next, Dinwiddie said the plan would be get Lakers star Anthony Davis out of LA but signing with super-agent Rich Paul’s Klutch Sports.

With Dinwiddie alongside Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen alongside Davis, he would keep the “fan favourites” to keep the crowds happy.

Ps. For the bench 6, I’d just keep all the fan favorites. Blakeny, Shaq, Hutchinson, Gafford. 2 vets. Jared Dudley types for lockeroom chemistry.

As for the final piece to the starting line up, Dinwiddie called for a Terrence Ross, Marcus Morris, Moe Harkless and Robert Covington to seal his starting five.

Then Dinwoodie would potentially trade Bulls forward Otto Porter Jr. for the Cleveland Cavaliers centre Andre Drummond.

But the key is Davis with Dinwiddie to give him the reins to the team.

MOST IMPORTANT THING: We are opening up transparent communication with AD, he gonna be running things on the low 🤣

4 Main reserves: harkless, coby, lotto pick, Lauri.
1 vet. 3 Super talented youth.

If AD needs more vets we adjust and go all in. We also collaborating on the coach decision.

Dinwiddie finished it off saying “That was fun” before asking for another GM job.

He also reiterated he doesn’t have an interest in coaching at all but then again, he may be looking for a front office job.

Soon after fixing the Bulls, fans were already telling him to fix the Knicks.

He said: “Back by popular demand and here to take on the @nyknicks task … but first let me grab my wine for this lol”.
