Tiger Woods is sport’s third billionaire – more than Messi and Ronaldo combined

Golf legend Tiger Woods has become sport's third billionaire – despite snubbing the controversial Saudi-backed LIV tour that teed off on Thursday.

Woods was reportedly offered a 'high nine digits' to join the tour, that has sent shockwaves through the golfing world. However, the American turned down the offer – but he has still become a billionaire thanks to numerous endorsements and his property empire.

According to Forbes, Woods has now reached the $1billion (£811,000,000) mark. The golfer has become the third man to reach the ten-digit mark, following in the footsteps of NBA legends Michael Jordan and Lebron James.

Incredibly, Forbes estimates that less than 10% of Woods' net worth was earned during his playing career.

Instead, the bulk of his fortune comes from his enormous endorsement deals with massive brands, including Gatorade, Monster Energy, and Rolex. Nike remain Woods' biggest backer, and he signed with the brand in 1996 after he burst onto the scene.

Woods also launched numerous businesses in his 'TGR Ventures' that have helped to ballon his net worth.
