Andy Ruiz Jr has shed an incredible amount of weight after losing to Anthony Joshua, as the heavyweight plots his return to the ring against Chris Arreola.

Ruiz Jr has lost two stone as a result of working with new trainer Eddy Reynoso.

The former heavyweight world champion lost his belts just months after winning them against Joshua.

Ruiz, who had clearly enjoyed the spoils of becoming the heavyweight king, turned up for his rematch against Anthony Joshua looking flabby and slow.

He was unable to get any sort of speed or power behind his punches, and was ultimately defeated in a one-sided 12-round beatdown.

Now, however, he is set to return to the ring and looks to be a completely new fighter.

Ruiz has lost two stone since the Joshua rematch and is looking much more toned and slimmed down.

He faces off against Arreola in what will be his first fight since his 2019 defeat to Joshua.

Speaking earlier this week, Ruiz Jr opened up on his new training techniques, and expressed he hasn't just been starving himself in order to lose weight.

  • He continued by explaining that in his rematch against Joshua, he was unable to have any sort of success as a result of his weight.

Ruiz said: "I’ve always been overweight and now I’ve been dropping weight normally and in the right way; by eating right, not just wearing the sauna suit, starving yourself.

"That’s what I used to do back in the day.

"But now that we’re eating the right things, we’re working on the right things, I feel amazing.

“I can do better stuff that I couldn’t do before because of my big gut, I had chi-chis, I had t**s that wouldn’t let me throw the right punches and all that.

"But now I’m more motivated, I’m more dedicated in this sport and sky’s the limit."
