Anthony Joshua ‘spotted on nights out with Riyad Mahrez’s estranged wife’

Anthony Joshua has reportedly been spotted on nights out with Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez’s estranged wife.

The heavyweight champion is alleged to have been seen with 26-year-old Rita on two occasions in recent weeks, once at a shisha bar and another time at a party.

The pair are thought to have first met last December when the boxer invited Rita to his table at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair.

It was reported then that Joshua backed away from her when he realised she was married to Algeria international Mahrez.

Now, according to The Sun , Joshua and Rita were recently seen with friends at The Hart Lounge shisha bar in London.

A source told the publication: “Rita’s mad keen on AJ. She thinks they can be a couple.

“She’s in touch with him via his circle of friends and loves going out with them, although she really only has eyes for AJ.

“She’s been telling people about him, although he has held her at arm’s length.”

Rita and Riyad, who have two children together, are believed to have separated last year.

They were married in a private ceremony in August 2015 when the winger was playing for Leicester City.

Late last year the City ace was said to be 'devastated' after Deontay Wilder was accused of 'flirting' with Rita at Manchester hotspot Club Liv.

Joshua is thought to still be single since splitting from dancer Nicole Osbourne in 2016.

A spokesman for Joshua told The Sun : “Anthony doesn’t personally know Mrs Mahrez and has no wish to, now or in future.

“He’s disappointed that she or people around her have tried to use his name to generate publicity.”

The Watford-born boxer is still waiting to fight Kubrat Pulev after their original date was postponed due to the coronavirus.

Should he win that bout then the aim is to take on unbeaten champion Tyson Fury for what would arguably be the biggest fight in British boxing history.

Fury is preparing to fight Wilder for a third time after previously drawing and beating him in the rematch.
