Boxing on TV tonight, live stream and UK start time for Canelo Alvarez fight

Boxing kicks into a new, higher gear today with action all over the world.

In New Zealand this morning, Joseph Parker and Junior Fa clash in a heavyweight bout which will settle a long-running rivalry.

The pair fought four times as amateurs with the score poised at 2-2 and today's bout is a must-win for both men.

The winner could go on to fight for a world title while the loser will be left licking their wounds.

And in Miami, Canelo Alvarez takes on Avni Yildirim in a mandatory defence of his super-middleweight world titles.

He does so knowing victory will set him up for a unification clash with Billy Joe Saunders in May.

Joseph Parker

"I'll knock him out between rounds one and twelve.

"I know what I can do. I'm not one of those guys who can predict what's going to happen, but I know if I go in there, let my hands go and throw combinations, that I can do a lot of damage and he's going to be on the receiving end of that.

"This fight feels different in the sense that it wasn’t really a fight we were looking at.

"But with everything that happened with COVID, it was the only option. But it’s great that we’re both ranked in the top ten in the world and live not far from each other.

"So it's a little different that I’m back here in New Zealand, fighting in front of family and friends and a crowd, because the last few fights I've had have been overseas.

"There's also a lot of talk about who’s the best heavyweight in New Zealand, I believe that I’m the best and I want to prove that and show it."

Junior Fa

"If I hurt him I'll take him down.

"I feel much better than my old self a few months ago. I'm feeling fully prepared for this fight. I feel like I'm peaking at the right time. I'm just feeling good. I'm getting excited … I can't wait for the night.

"He has strengths, he has weaknesses. I have strengths, I have weaknesses. I feel like I can figure him out. I feel like we have a good plan that I can execute on the night to make sure that I come out on top."
