Conor McGregor is set to make his acting debut in a Hollywood blockbuster film alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. The Irish UFC star has of course made himself a world renowned name thanks to his successful career in the octagon.
Now though, the Irishman is set to showcase his skills in a totally different setting when putting in his debut acting performance in front of the film cameras. McGregor is set to star alongside Gyllenhaal in a remake of the 80’s classic Road House.
The news was confirmed in a statement from his spokesperson Karen Kessler. She said: “Conor McGregor is very excited to expand his storied career and join with Jake Gyllenhaal in the reimagining of ‘Road House’, a beloved classic.”

The report reveals that McGregor watched the original Road House and ‘enjoyed it’ after hearing of the interest. The film will follow an ex-UFC fighter – played by Gyllenhall – who takes a new job as a bouncer in Florida.

It is understood that the Irish fighter will portray a character from the original film, and will not be playing himself in the MMA production. The news comes as McGregor continues to ramp up his preparation for an eagerly awaited return to the octagon.
‘The Notorious One’ has not featured on the UFC circuit since brutally breaking his leg in defeat to Dustin Poirier last July. Whilst McGregor has no opponent nailed down for his comeback, his spokesperson Kessler has reassured fans that despite his acting move fighting still remains his main priority.
She said: “While fighting remains his top focus, this is the beginning of another successful venture in the McGregor empire. He is eager to get started filming.
