Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 3 trilogy fight predictions

It's not long until Bruce Buffer will be yelling "It's time!" before one of the most-anticipated fights of the year.

Conor McGregor faces Dustin Poirier for the third time in the early hours of Sunday morning in the main event of a star-studded UFC 264 card at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena.

The Irishman is searching for redemption after Poirier inflicted the first knockout defeat of his career in the second round of the UFC 257 main event nearly six months ago.

McGregor won his first meeting with the American via first-round TKO back in 2014, so their rivalry is finely-poised ahead of this weekend's contest.

That is reflected in the predictions made by fellow fighters and celebrity fans, with very little to separate the pair.

Without further ado, here are the predictions of Sylvester Stallone, Michael Bisping, Chris Pratt and many others.

Tyson Fury

Speaking from the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas, the WBC heavyweight champion said: "My prediction for the McGregor-Poirier fight is I think McGregor will win this tie.

"I think he's been training hard and has got it all to prove. It will be a great event and one to watch."

Sylvester Stallone

"I mean, you have two guys who are psychologically a little hesitant, but Poirier has a big-time advantage," said the cinema icon.

Michael Bisping

Britain's first and only UFC champion told Helen Yee Sports: “Who knows? They both knocked each other out, they both have tremendous skills.

"You know, I think because of the momentum, because of the recent knockout, maybe a lean towards Dustin. But you can never underestimate Conor McGregor, as we know."

Bisping added: "I respect what Conor’s doing. You gotta respect Dustin as well. It’s gonna be a tremendous fight and it could go either way.”

Georges St-Pierre

The welterweight and middleweight UFC champion told Tristar Gym YouTube channel: "I think McGregor is very good in rematches and I think he's going to have the victory.

"I think he's probably going to win in the second round by knockout."

Sean O'Malley

The bantamweight prospect, who is fighting on the UFC 264 main card, told his YouTube channel: Who do I got that's the question?

"I got Conor, man I wanna see Conor win cause I wanna see another huge fight. I love big crazy events… Conor vs Dustin 3 is a huge event."

Chris Pratt

Hollywood A-lister told the UFC: "I'm excited for this fight, it's gonna be a good one. I predict it's Poirier's night, I think he's got Conor's number.

"I think he's hungrier, and I think he's going to be the bigger man that night. Looking forward to it, respect to both fighters.

"Thank you for all you've both have done for the sport, and to all the other fighters in the night, God bless ya, stay safe, and keep entertaining us fans at home. We love it, we love you, thanks Dana [White, UFC president]."

Stephen Thompson

'Wonderboy' is fighting Gilbert Burns in the co-main event and told James Lynch's YouTube channel: "He's got to come back out the same old Conor McGregor we're used to seeing, with the same movement; not the boxing, staying in front of you, trying to bang it out type of Conor McGregor.

"He's got to bring that karate style back if he's going to go out there and finish him. He's a smart guy. And, you know, he's hungry; hates to lose. So, man, that's a tough one. You know what, 500 bucks, I'm going for Conor."
