Fans ‘terrified’ by Mike Tyson’s speed and power as training footage emerges

Mike Tyson recently shared a clip of his intense training regime ahead of his September comeback fight and terrified his 15m Instagram followers with his shocking speed and power.

Despite making his professional debut over 36 years ago, Iron Mike displayed his absurd speed and power, as he fired a rapid one-two and a pair of devastating left hooks as trainer Rafael Cordeiro watched on.

Tyson’s fans were stunned by the short clip.

One commented “Everyone talking about the power in this clip, but nobody mentions the speed of the punches. Remember he weighs 220lbs and is 55 years old.”

Another claimed, “It’s the fact I cannot catch the speed of the first right hand that makes this legend terrifying.”

Per Tyson’s current head coach, Cordeiro, he is expecting to return to the boxing ring in September and while an opponent has not yet been announced, Tyson is already deep into training camp.

Cordeiro, who has trained MMA greats including Anderson Silva, Wanderlei Silva and Rafael dos Anjos, has been Tyson’s trainer for a few years after the two worked closely together for Iron Mike’s first comeback fight.

“We continue training. He’s an athlete and is always training, hitting pads here in the gym," Cordeiro told in a recent interview.

"I think we’re going to have something in September.

“I don’t know who because his company Legends Only League is working on it and negotiating a TV deal so they can announce a schedule, but we’re training. We’ll be fighting in September.”

Tyson’s first comeback fight against Roy Jones Jr. was an enormous pay-per-view success, doing 1.6m buys.

This success will likely pave the way for even more clashes between retired boxers under the Legends Only League banner in the near future, with the likes of Frank Bruno and Evander Holyfield also reportedly keen on returning to the ring.

Tyson has previously competed against both men twice. Iron Mike knocked out Bruno in both their contests, in the fifth and third rounds respectively, but was famously knocked out by Holyfield in their first clash and disqualified in their rematch for biting.
