Jake Paul fulfils six-year promise to himself after Tyron Woodley knockout

Jake Paul has finally rewarded himself with his first holiday in six years after his knockout win over Tyron Woodley earlier this month.

The 24-year-old YouTube star began growing his social media following in 2013, and by the time he all but retired from making vlogs to focus on professional boxing in early 2020, he had amassed a following in the tens of millions.

And during that time period, Paul promised himself that he wouldn't take a legitimate holiday that didn't involve some aspect of work until he felt he had earned a break.

His last time off came when he was 18-years-old, years before his YouTube peak which arrived around 2017, and he has since only travelled to create content.

But he has whisked girlfriend Julia Rose off to St Barth's on a private jet so they can take some time away from the spotlight following an intensive 13-month period in which he fought on pay-per-view four times.

The Caribbean island is a celebrity hotspot, with a population under 10,000 and a series of white-sand beaches and designer shops.

Paul shelled out for a private jet to fly to the serene island with Rose, and has vowed to take some time away from the spotlight before returning to America in the new year.

The pair travelled seemingly without a camera crew or any members of Paul's entourage, which would be the first time he's taken a trip of that nature in over six years.

"How does someone who knocks people out for a living have such a big heart?" Rose gushed in an Instagram post showing them sharing champagne on their private jet.

The YouTube star is now expected to take as much as seven months away from competition, with Mirror Fighting sources indicating that his team are currently planning for his return fight to take place in July of 2022.

"I need to take a break," Paul told reporters after his rematch with Woodley earlier this month. "I've been going at this non-stop for a year and a half and it's a lot.

"I'm exhausted, I need to spend time with my family at Christmas and go on a vacation, I haven't gone on a vacation since I was 18-years-old.

"I told myself 'not until you feel like you've got to a place in life where you deserve a vacation' and I deserve it now.

"I'm going to go on my first real vacation where there's no obligations, because I've gone on vacations where I have to film it, vlog it, do interviews and wake up at a certain time to work out.

"I'm going on a real vacation and doing backflips into the water – I'll come back whenever I feel like it."

When Paul returns to the United States after his trip with Rose, he will put his head down on promoting the fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano with Eddie Hearn.

The fight is expected to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York on April 30 or May 7, and Paul has vowed to make it as big as possible, with both boxers set to earn millions in what's been dubbed the biggest fight in women's fight in history.
