Charles Martin is ‘desperate’ to avenge his defeat by Anthony Joshua as the American’s promoter revealed his fighter will do ‘whatever it takes’ to reclaim his heavyweight crown.
Martin, 35, suffered a second round knockout defeat by AJ in April 2016, easily surrendering the IBF heavyweight title to the Brit.
The American later admitted that he was not ‘mentally there’ for his fight in London, with some critics accusing Martin of lacking ambition to win the bout amid a reported £6million pay day.

The 35-year-old has is now searching for redemption and takes on Luis Ortiz this weekend in an IBF title eliminator.
Although Joshua has since lost his belts to Oleksandr Usyk, Martin and his team want AJ to reclaim his belts so that a title rematch remains a possibility.
‘I think Usyk beats Joshua again, but I am rooting for Joshua,’ Martin’s manager, Mike Borao, told Sky Sports.
‘Charles desperately wants to fight and KO Joshua before he retires. He’s been focused on that singular goal since 2016 – it’s what motivates him and it’s the reason why he will beat Luiz Ortiz.

‘Charles will do whatever it takes to become two-time heavyweight champion, including fighting a second IBF eliminator against one of the most avoided heavyweights in the world.’
Such is Martin’s determination to secure a rematch with AJ, his manager revealed that he has called for a fight with Andy Ruiz Jr, knowing that a win over Joshua’s first conqueror would prove he is capable of defeating the Brit.
‘Charles instructed me to match him against the only fighter to KO Joshua, Andy Ruiz,’ he added.
‘I tried very hard to make a fight against Andy, but he refused.’
