Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are set for a rematch – and it will take place on a cruise ship.

The pair battled it out in las Vegas three years ago, with the 50-fight unbeaten boxer overcoming his UFC rival in 10 rounds.

Since The Notorious’ lost to Dustin Poirier on Fight Island this month, there has been speculation that he could call out Money again.

And The Sun have reported that progress has quickly been made to host one of the most unique fights in history between the two.

After talks took place between McGregor and Mayweather earlier this month, the idea was floated about using a boat to host the fight.

Stadiums are currently out of the question due to the coronavirus pandemic, a bout on water would limit tickets to only super-rich fans as well as bringing intrigue to the fight.

But it is not the first time that a cruise ship has been proposed for a fight.

The report states that Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed last year that he was pitched the idea for the Brit’s heavyweight clash against Kubrat Pulev last month.

McGregor was knocked out after two rounds in his latest bout by Poirier, which is only his third fight since the boxing clash against Mayweather.

And the American wasted no time in firing shots at his rival.

Writing on Instagram within seconds of the fight ending, the 43-year-old said: “Just know, that bum will never be me or be on my level.

"I’m just built different, my mindset is on another planet, my skills are second to none, I’m a natural born winner and yes I talk a lot of trash, but every time I back it up.

“Nobody wants to see that, it's like my leftovers eating leftovers.”

Mayweather was referring to a rumoured fight between McGregor and the man Money fought for the biggest fight in history at £678m.

And that bout could land The Notorious a world title if he beats another professional fighter before taking on his former rival.
