UFC star Justin Jaynes was left with a gruesome eye injury that forced his fight against Devonte Smith to be stopped.
The 31-year-old stepped in to take on the American after Alex da Silva Coelho pulled out of the Las Vegas showdown.
But his fourth fight with the organisation was ended after just two rounds as the MMA star, who is also known as “Guitar Hero”, needed the doctor to step in.
Having fought well in the first, Jaynes spent most of his time on his back in the following round.
When Smith was able to get behind him, though, he continued to batter the American’s left eye with his right hand.
After a couple of minutes, though, the doctor is called into the Octagon – where the UFC fighter now has a huge bulge where his eye is.
The bruising has swollen to almost three times the size of his eye, with a purple ball building beneath the lower eyelid.
And the doctor only needs a couple of seconds to assess the damage before ending the fight, handing victory to Smith.
Images of the eye injury were soon shared on Twitter, where viewers were left in shock at the damage.
“Horrible stoppage,” one said.
Another commented: “That looks very sore and disgusting.”
While a third joked: “Can’t tell what’s more round – the top of his head or that eye.”
And a fourth added: “His eye was a balloon.”
With a fifth simply wiring; “That looked brutal!”

Jaynes is not the only UFC fighter to suffer a nasty injury recently, though, as Conor McGregor was left on crutches after his UFC 257 defeat to Dustin Poirier.
The Notorious’ right leg crumpled underneath him as he tried to put pressure on the lightweight fighter, with the injury allowed his opponent in for victory.
And the Irishman is still feeling the effect of the leg injury – two weeks after the Octagon bout on Fight Island.
