The fifth edition of The Match is set to get underway tonight, and it is poised to be one of the most fiercely contested battles of the series yet.

Golf’s most notorious modern day rivalry, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau will take each other on in Las Vegas across a 12-hole match at the Wynn Golf Club.

The Match first began back in 2018, when old foes Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson teed it up at Shadow Creek, as the pair contested in a match play event where the winner took away £6.8million.

Mickelson was the man to prevail the first time around, and he has gone on to feature in every match of the event since, which have included rounds alongside the likes of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Steph Curry, Aaron Rodgers and Charles Barkley.

This time around though feuding rivals DeChambeau and Koepka will have the course to themselves, as they go solely head-to-head.

When is The Match?

The Match will take place on Friday, 26 November at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, and will get underway at 9:00pm BST.

How can I watch The Match?

The Match between the two rivals will be broadcast live on TNT, TBS, truTV and HLN, and will be streamed on Watch TNT in the US.

A broadcaster for viewers in the UK has yet to be announced.

What prize money is on offer?

The only prize either Koepka or DeChambeau will be able to take away with them is bragging rights, with no financial prize money on offer to the winner.

Like the last three editions of the series, all money raised from The Match is pledged to charity.

What is the format?

Koepka and DeChambeau will be taking each other on in a match play showdown (the same format as Ryder Cup matches), but will only be playing across 12 holes instead of the usual 18.

What have the players said?

It seems that despite their embrace at September’s Ryder Cup, their rivalry is still as bitter as ever as both have given out their own fighting talk in the build up to the event.

DeChambeau and Koepka were both quick to state the hug they shared following Team USA’s win at Whistling Straits was a ‘forced’ one, with the latter confirming he has ‘never liked’ the 28-year-old.

Koepka said: “I’ve said it like 10 different times, I’ve never really liked him… I think we played together maybe when he was an amateur at Augusta.

“That was the only time that I can think of that we ever played [together]. We didn’t get along there.”

On the other side of the feud DeChambeau has labelled the treatment he has received from his rival ‘disgusting’, and feels his constant jibes are down to ‘jealousy’.

The eight-time PGA Tour winner commented: “It’s disgusting the way the guy has tried to knock me down.

“There’s no need for it in the game of golf, he’s just tried to knock me down at every angle, every avenue. For what reason, I don’t know. Maybe it’s because he’s jealous.”
