Matt James spent his college days catching passes as a wide receiver for the Wake Forest Deamon Deacons.
The post-grad years have focused more on finding love on the small screen.
ABC announced Friday that James will lead the 25th season of reality dating show "The Bachelor." It's a history-making move for the franchise; James is the first black male in the franchise's 18-year history to lead a season.
The Raleigh, North Carolina native redshirted during his first year at Wake Forest in 2010 and played in eight games the next year. A broken collarbone limited him to three games in 2012 and another injury cost him most of his junior season. But in his final year of eligibility, James played in a career-high nine games and caught 40 passes for 401 yards.
According to James' Instagram page, he's stayed in football shape and can still run a 6:20 mile pace. Plenty of fitness-themed dates, perhaps?
