Tthe Chargers will host the Steelers in Week 11’s edition of Sunday Night Football. We have to make some compromises with our DraftKings Showdown lineup this week, particularly in the “Captain” slot, where we will be pivoting away from Najee Harris. However, the savings allow us to solidify the bottom of our DFS lineup without sacrificing its ceiling.
Before we get into our picks, here are the key DraftKings Showdown rules: It’s full-point PPR, and there are three-point bonuses for 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, and 100 receiving yards. The Captain picks costs 1.5 times a player’s original price, but he also gets his point total multiplied by 1.5.
DraftKings Showdown Picks: Steelers vs. Chargers
$50,000 budget, need at least one player from each team.
Captain (1.5x points, 1.5x salary) RB Austin Ekeler, Chargers ($16,200)
Ekeler has cooled off a bit since a pair of 30.0-plus DK-point performances in Weeks 4 and 5, but he’s still only failed to crack double figures one time this season. Whether it’s running, receiving, or scoring, Ekeler will be in position to deliver another monster performance, even against a high-quality defense.
FLEX RB Najee Harris, Steelers ($11,800)
Harris leads the Steelers in usage by a wide margin. His 220 touches make up 48.7 percent of Pittsburgh’s total. He’s only scored below 20.0 DraftKings points once since Week 2, so we know the floor is high. The Chargers own one of the league’s worst run defenses, so a gaudy score could be in the cards for Harris.
FLEX WR Keenan Allen, Chargers ($9,400)
Allen is an attractive option in DraftKings lineups where the full-PPR scoring can extract the most out of his short-area slot role. Allen only has one game with 10-plus receptions, but he’s earned DK’s three-point bonus for reaching 100 receiving yards three times. He’s averaging a modest 10.7 yards per catch, but he’s received 35 targets over his past three games, so either way, he should be able to rack up some points on Sunday night.
FLEX TE Pat Freiermuth, Steelers ($5,400)
Freiermuth is coming off a performance in which he was held to 7.1 DK points in spite of a season-high nine targets. It was his lowest fantasy output since Week 5, but he’s seen 29 targets and scored three times over his past four games. The Chargers have struggled against tight ends this season, putting Freiermuth in position to get back on track this week.
FLEX K Chris Boswell, Steelers ($3,600)
The Steelers offense is flawed, with or without Ben Roethlisberger (COVID) under center. Their struggles with the ball have led to more field goal attempts, particularly of late. They’re tied for the fourth most attempts over the past three weeks. Meanwhile, the Chargers have forced the fourth most attempts over the same span.
FLEX WR Ray-Ray McCloud, Steelers ($3,400)
McCloud’s playing time has been trending up in recent weeks, and he’s coming off a game in which he registered season bests in snaps (61), targets (12), and receptions (9). It’s difficult to complete this lineup without heaving a Hail Mary, but if McCloud can replicate last week’s effort to some degree, we’re unlikely to be left empty handed.
