What channel is Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin on today? Time, TV schedule for Week 4 college football game

No. 12 Notre Dame and No. 18 Wisconsin are traveling to Soldier Field to kick off the Shamrock Series on Saturday.

Fighting Irish quarterback Jack Coan will go up against the Badgers for the first time since he transferred from Wisconsin in 2020. He made the decision to leave the Badgers after he suffered a broken foot in 2020, and coach Paul Chryst moved on with developing quarterback Graham Mertz. Since he left Wisconsin, Coan completed 62 of 98 passes for 828 yards and totaled eight touchdowns through three games.

Although Notre Dame holds a 10-0-2 record in the historic Chicago stadium, Wisconsin is favored by 6.5 points, according to FanDuel. The Fighting Irish will likely struggle to make gains on the ground, but they may have better luck driving the ball through the air. Averaging 276 passing yards per game and 13.4 yards per play, the transfer quarterback can easily perform a scoring drive with tight end Michael Mayer.

The Badgers second-ranked defense, which only allowed 66 rushing yards through two games, will likely make several big stops against the Fighting Irish. Linebacker Jack Sanborn leads the Wisconsin defense with six total tackles and one sack for seven yards, later followed by linebacker Nick Herbing who totals four tackles and 1.5 sacks for 10 yards.

Graham Mertz and the Wisconsin offense will likely be tested by Notre Dame’s top defender Kyle Hamilton. The safety totals 21 tackles and three interceptions through three games, and is expected to shut down the passing game. As Mertz continues to struggle driving down the field through the air, he is reliant on running back Chez Mellusi. Through the Badgers first two matchups, Mellusi totaled 265 yards and two touchdowns on 51 carries. With Hamilton putting consistent pressure on Mertz, Mellusi may be Wisconsin’s best chance to put points on the board.
