Mercedes boss Toto Wolff worth 10 times more than Red Bull’s Christian Horner

Toto Wolff and Christian Horner have long been at each other's throats in F1 – but there's one aspect of their rivalry where the Mercedes man is way out of front.

Wolff and his Red Bull rival frequently clashed in the 2021 campaign as Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen went head-to-head for the world title. And there was to be no diplomatic conclusion, with the Dutchman eventually crowned champion in a highly dubious circumstances after an explosive season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

In April this year, the pair attended a meeting of all team bosses, and it seemed tension was still rife as they sat as far away as possible from each other at the table. However, there hasn't been the same level of volatility in this campaign with the Silver Arrows having dropped off the pace, despite Horner recently admitting he loves winding up his rival.

But the English Team Principal has little to goad Wolff about when it comes to net worth. His opposite number is worth a mammoth £438 million, far exceeding world famous stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Serena Williams.

And the 50-year-old's wealth hasn't just come from a successful era in F1, with Mercedes winning seven of the last eight F1 championships. He actually started out in business by selling candles at an anti-racism protest in his native country.

At 19, he competed in the Austrian Formula Ford Championship and in the Austrian and German Formula Ford in 1993. He then stepped away from motorsport to work in an investment bank in Warsaw and then went into sales management at an Austrian steel company.

Further business ventures followed, before he entered F1 with Williams in 2009. Four years later, he received an approach from Mercedes, and proceeded to become one of the most influential figures in the sport.

But whilst Horner, 48, can also lay claim to the latter notion, his fortune his barely a tenth of what Wolff enjoys. According to celebritynetworth, he's valued at a mere £43.4 million.

Horner became the youngest Team Principal in the sport when he took on the role in 2005. He'd previously embarked on a driving career, starting off in karting before eventually making his way to Formula 3000.
