Michael Schumacher’s ex-F1 boss finally gets married – after 19-year engagement

Michael Schumacher’s former F1 boss Jean Todt has married 19 years after becoming engaged.

Todt, who was general manager of Scuderia Ferrari from 1994 to 2007, oversaw the team’s era of dominance in which Schumacher claimed five world championships.

During that time, he struck up a close friendship with the German ace, with whom he still watches F1 races with despite a devastating head injury which has kept Schumacher out of the public eye for a decade.

Todt, 77, met actress Michelle Yeoh, 60, in Shanghai back in 2004 at the peak of Ferrari’s powers, before proposing just two months later. But it took the Frenchman a staggering 19 years to tie the knot.

The revelation comes after Brazilian former F1 driver Felipe Massa – Schumacher’s old team-mate – shared a series of photos on Instagram from Todt and Yeoh’s wedding in Geneva, Switzerland, on Thursday.

He wrote: "Happy marriage Jean Todt & Michelle Yeoh. Love you so much."

The pictures showed Michelle, who was awarded the Oscar for best actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, smiling as she hugged Todt.

Hollywood sensation Michelle even took her Academy Award to her big day, with a picture showing the shiny gold trophy placed next to the wedding cake.

Another snap shared by Massa showed a picture of a card from the wedding which told the newly-weds’ fascinating marriage story.

It read: “We met in Shanghai on 4th June 2004. On 26th July 2004, J.T. proposed to marry M.Y. and she said YES! Today after 6992 days on 27th July 2023 in Geneva, surrounded by loving family and friends, we are so happy to celebrate this special moment together.”

And Todt reportedly has long-time friend Schumacher to thank for the romance, after the record seven-time F1 champion offered him expert tips on how to communicate with Michelle better.

Speaking to German outlet BILD, Todt previously said: "I knew immediately that she was my dream woman, even before I met her. It was destiny. She was the woman I had been waiting for."
