Williams made 170 NRL appearances across 11 seasons and played in the Manly Sea Eagles’ 2011 grand final-winning side.
He also featured in the NSW State of Origin side on three occasions and appeared for both Australia and Tonga at international level.
Williams will join former NRL players Eddy Pettybourne and Constantine Mika in the new American league. Both Pettybourne and Mika will compete with the New York Freedom’s cross-town rivals the Brooklyn Kings.
