Former Broncos star Chris Walker reportedly cheekily texted Wayne Bennett to gauge his interest in returning to the Brisbane club.
The Broncos are reeling and currently sit 14th on the ladder, with many fans pining for the good old days under super coach Bennett.
WWOS’ The Mole revealed Walker sent an ambitious text to Bennett and was met with a frank and emphatic reply.

V’Landys: 17th team will only be in Brisbane
NRL: ARLC Chairman Peter V’landys has confirmed if the competition does expand to 17 teams, that Brisbane will be the only location for the new club.
“Hey Wayne, it’s Walks… when are you coming back to coach the Broncos” Walker texted Bennett.
Bennett, known for his brevity was concise and to the point with his reply.
“Never,” Bennett answered.
Walker then sent Bennett three smiley faced emojis.
“You don’t ask, you don’t get, so I thought I would give it a shot – the club is a mess,” Walker told WWOS.
Bennett is reportedly in the sights of several NRL clubs, including the Dragons, Warriors and Bulldogs, with his deal at South Sydney set to end at the conclusion of next season.
