Trent Barrett doesn’t want one player to lift

He wants every player to lift. After last week’s defeat, he staunchly defended the system he has in place and said that wasn’t the issue. They have a limited roster, clearly, but can’t go on and get flogged every week. They have some super players coming next season in Matt Burton and Josh Addo-Carr but that won’t help them in 2021.

Some perspective…

I think Penrith were $1.10 to beat Manly last night, which they duly did. Souths are $1.05 to win this afternoon with the Bulldogs $10. With Storm-Brisbane next, I don’t think I can remember a more lop-sided trio of match-ups to start a round of the NRL. Dean Britt, Jackson Topine, Lachlan Lewis all in for the Dogs, Jake Averillo, Jeremy Marshall-King and the veteran Josh Jackson the outs. South Sydney unchanged from last week’s win over the Roosters.

Afternoon all.. welcome to Friday football

And I won’t lie, this could get BIG very quickly if the Bulldogs and Brisbane don’t fire a shot. We start with the Rabbitohs and the Bulldogs, the latter being absolutely woeful against Brisbane, who are woeful in general. I covered that game at Suncorp Stadium and it was about as bad as I’ve seen, so unless they are a different team today, they will get smashed. Let’s hope they turn up and tackle and stay competitive.
