Queensland police have charged a 19-year-old man in relation to the theft during an alleged home robbery of “priceless” playing jerseys worn by NRL player Jaxson Paulo.
Paulo had appealed on social media after the alleged burglary at his father’s Highland Park home last week.
Jaxson Paulo made his NRL debut for South Sydney in 2020, switched to arch-rivals the Roosters in 2023 before signing with Manly for the upcoming season.
“Between 11pm on Nov 21 and 6am on Nov 22, an alleged break in occurred at an address in Highland Park, where a number of personal items were stolen,” according to a Queensland Police media statement released on Wednesday morning.
A 19-year-old Redbank Plains man was on November 24 charged with the break-in.
He faced Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody to next appear in court on December 5.
Andrew Paulo, Jaxson’s father, had earlier posted on Facebook appealing for the jerseys to be returned.
“Please I’m asking anyone in the community and the NRL community to share this post,” he posted.
He also wrote that the incident occurred on November 22 at his Gold Coast home while his wife was asleep.

In his appeal, he said: “My kids wore and played in these jerseys in some monumental times of their lives. These are priceless to our family and the sentimental value has caused huge sadness for me and my wife.
“I would ask the thieves or anyone who has seen or know the whereabouts of the jerseys to kindly return them or leave them somewhere they can be returned to us.
“Please we don’t want anyone hurt just praying they return my families treasures.
“No nasty comments please, we just want the jerseys returned.”
Jaxson Paulo also posted about the incident on his Instagram account, stating: “Any help would be appreciated!”
Jaxson Paulo has made 55 NRL appearances during a rugby league career that has also included representing Samoa on one occasion. The 24-year-old is one of several key off-season Sea Eagles recruits along with Luke Brooks, Tommy Talau, Nathan Brown and Corey Waddell.
