Andres Iniesta makes admission over famous holiday photo with Peter Crouch

Andres Iniesta says he can't remember whether or not he asked Peter Crouch for a holiday photo back in 2011, or if it was the other way around.

The snap of the pair posing together in Italy became a running joke on the first series of 'That Peter Crouch Podcast' from BBC Sounds, in which Crouch insisted that it was Barcelona legend and Spain World Cup winner Iniesta who approached him for a picture together.

With that claim and the very existence of the photo repeatedly questioned throughout the series, the ex-England forward Crouch – in typically good humour – eventually managed to find the snap and tweeted an image of the pair together in a restaurant.

Iniesta – who these days plays for Vissel Kobe in Japan – says he is aware of the interest in the photo from the podcast's fans, and while he can't quite recall how it came about he doesn't doubt Crouch's version of events, even saying that the ex-Liverpool and Tottenham star is welcome to meet him and recreate it if he wants.

"I'm aware of this," he said, via the Mail Online. "I just don't remember if it was me who asked for the photo or if it was him.

"But if it was me asking him then that wouldn't surprise me.

"If he said it was like that then I'm sure it was. If he wants to come, I'll be here!"
