Arsenal entered their Premier League showdown with Leicester as underdogs. However, the Gunners didn’t let that stop them from picking up victory at the King Power Stadium. It was a good day for the north London giants, who followed up their 3-2 Europa League win over Benfica with another good showing.

Arsenal went into the match against Leicester on a high.

After coming from behind to beat Benfica in their Europa League clash on Thursday, Mikel Arteta’s side were aiming to reignite their chances of finishing in the Premier League top four.

Things got off to the worst possible start when Arsenal fell behind, with Youri Tielemans scoring for the Foxes.

But goals from David Luiz, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe ensured they picked up all three points.

Express Sport take a look at Arsenal’s three standout performers from the match at the King Power Stadium.

David Luiz

Luiz is infuriating.

Some days, the Arsenal star can be absolutely woeful. Others, he can be brilliant.

And this was a case of the latter, with the former Chelsea defender producing a fine performance amid the heat of the battle.

His header drew Arsenal level on the day, with the Samba star stooping to head home Willian’s superb free kick.

And Luiz led with authority throughout the game, barely giving Jamie Vardy a sniff as Leicester went in search of goals.

Nicolas Pepe

Arsenal have spent a long time hoping to see the best from Nicolas Pepe.

And while it’s undeniable the Ivory Coast international suffers from consistency issues, he was excellent against Leicester.

Pepe was arguably Arsenal’s best player in the first half, posing a constant threat and putting pressure on the Foxes’ defence.

And his goal topped off a sensational afternoon.

Arsenal will now hope he can do this more often because, if he does, he’d finally justify the club’s decision to sign him over Wilfried Zaha in 2019.

Willian

Simply put, it’s been a dire first season at Arsenal for Willian.

Certainly, comments made by the Brazil international about never wanting to leave Chelsea haven’t done him any favours.

But Willian, slowly but surely, is starting to turn things around.

After assisting against Benfica on Thursday, he provided two against Leicester.

The first was for Luiz, and the second for Pepe. The question now is: can he do this more often?
