Arsenal fans convinced Diego Simeone has dropped Thomas Partey transfer clue

Arsenal supporters are convinced that Atletico Madrid are preparing for the departure of Thomas Partey, after the star was left on the bench for the La Liga clash with Granada. The Ghanaian is a top target for Mikel Arteta, who has already tried to prise Partey away from the Wanda Metropolitano with two offers.

Both of those were player-plus-cash proposals involving Matteo Guendouzi but a swap deal does not interest Atletico Madrid.

Partey was a boyhood Arsenal fan and is thought to be keen on the move to north London.

He has a new contract offer on the table from his club but he is yet to commit his future amid suggestion he could leave the Spanish giants.

Now Arsenal fans on Twitter are optimistic that they can complete a deal for Partey after he was left out of the starting line up by Diego Simeone.

“Thomas Partey is on the subs bench today, that’s it he’s coming to Arsenal,” one fan tweeted.

A second wrote: “Diego Simeone Preparing for Life without Partey. You love to see it.”

One fan claimed this was not the first occasion he has been overlooked: “Thomas Partey is kn the Atletico Madrid bench once again. Remember he was on the bench and didn’t play in the Champions league game against Leipzig.

“Looks like he’s not in Diego Simeone’s plan for the new season.”

A fourth said: “Partey not starting, 90% sure he won’t be subbed on. He’s coming to the carpet.”

As one of the Arsenal fans rightly pointed out, it’s not the first time Simeone has decided not to count of Partey.

He’s been a mainstay in his midfield in the past two seasons and now he does not seem to be in favour.

He was on the bench for the Champions League quarter-final with Leipzig despite bossing the last 16 second-leg against Liverpool at Anfield.

Arsenal are currently trying to offload Lucas Torreira to Atletico, in order to raise some funds.

The move will also improve relations between the two clubs as they try and entice Atletico into selling Partey.

Atletico have already made it clear they won’t sell unless his £45million release clause is trigger.

Arsenal are trying to secure a deal for below that figure and it appears Houssem Aouar is now the priority midfield target.
