Arsenal fans joke Barcelona will "reunite Chuckle Brothers" with latest transfer

Arsenal fans have joked that Barcelona are trying to "reunite the Chuckle Brothers" after the La Liga giants were tipped with a shock move for Alexandre Lacazette.

The Gunners forward, 30, is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to be offered a new deal by Mikel Arteta.

According to various reports, Lacazette could head to Catalunya in the summer to team up with former strike partner Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, 32.

But Arsenal fans have mocked the transfer with a cruel assessment of their alliance at the Emirates.

"Trying to reunite the Chuckle Brothers it seems," joked one Gunners supporter on social media.

The "Chuckle Brothers" jibe harks back to when the pair were both employed at the club, in relation to their questionable finishing and link-up play in the period before Aubameyang left.

After banging the goals in at Borussia Dortmund and Lyon, Aubameyang and Lacazette was meant to be one of the most feared partnerships in the Premier League.

The Gabon international did claim the golden boot in 2019 for his 22 top-flight goals but that did little to stop the "Chuckle Brothers" taunts.

After several run-ins with boss Arteta, Aubameyang was shipped off to Barca on Transfer Deadline Day.

Six goals in nine appearances later, the ex-Gunners captain is loving life on the Spanish coast.

If Lacazette can follow in his former team-mates' footsteps then their "Chuckle Brothers" taunt really could come full circle.

The duo might just end up having the last laugh after all.
