Arsenal fans say Gabriel Jesus helped seal Douglas Luiz move after Villa game

Gabriel Jesus is a rather popular figure at the Emirates Stadium.

The £45million summer signing has contributed three goals and three assists in his first five Premier League appearances for Arsenal. He has fit into Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven like a glove, providing the Gunners with the very burst of pace, sharpness, and attacking instincts they lacked at times last season.

The former Manchester City ace is one of the main reasons why they are the only side in the division to maintain a 100% record in the Premier League. And Arsenal fans also have a feeling he may be a crucial part in their recruitment team, as he was seen whispering to fellow Brazilian and Gunners’ transfer target Douglas Luiz.

Reports from The Athletic understand Arsenal are preparing a deadline day move for the Aston Villa ace, who has less than one year left on his contract at Villa Park. And after Jesus was spotted in deep conversation with Luiz at the end of the match, Gunners fans believe ‘Agent Jesus’ has been in play.

“Thank you agent G. Jesus,” one fan posted. Another supporter agreed, stating “Agent Jesus? Douglas Luiz in!”

“Agent Gabriel Jesus was seen initiating the deal after Luiz refused to celebrate when he scored directly from a corner,” another Gunner laughed. Despite their interest, Villa boss Steven Gerrard may be a stumbling block, as he has already stated that he wants Luiz to remain at Villa Park

“I am not in control of that,” Gerrard admitted after the game. “That will be Douglas, his agent and what happens around that. I would like to keep him. I think he is a fantastic player. I have made that abundantly clear.

“We are not in a position where we need to lose our top players but at the same time Douglas has a year to go. “It is one of those really touchy situations where the club has to do what is best for the club, not necessarily what is best for me.”
