Arsenal get ‘green light’ for Denis Zakaria swoop as transfer request confirmed

It's already been a busy few weeks for Arsenal in the summer transfer window and it isn't showing any signs of slowing down.

Having added both Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga to his squad, Mikel Arteta is seeking further new arrivals ahead of the new campaign.

Reports have suggested the Gunners are preparing a fresh bid for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, while Chelsea's Tammy Abraham continues to be linked.

But offloading some of his current crop is essential if Arteta wants to splash more cash – particularly if Arsenal get their next expected deal over the line.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are two players who could make way, while their are plenty of other targets on Arteta's radar.

Here are the latest updates and rumours from around the Emirates.

Edu gets Zakaria 'green light'

Reported Arsenal target Denis Zakaria has given potential suitors a boost after confirming he wants to leave current club Borussia Monchengladbach this summer.

The 24-year-old is highly-rated in the Bundesliga and has just a year remaining on his contract.

Despite the efforts of Monchengladbach to get him to extend, he has made it clear he feels his future lies elsewhere.

"With Denis, we have been trying to extend his contract since October," Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl said, as quoted by Goal.

"Denis and his management told us pretty clearly that they would prefer a transfer this summer."

Football London report that has now given Arsenal chief Edu the 'green light' to swoop for the Swiss international.

White 'undergoes medical'

Arsenal are on the verge of landing Ben White's signature after the Brighton defender underwent a medical on Sunday ahead of a proposed switch to north London, reports the Mail.

Both clubs have already agreed on a £50million deal, with the final elements of the transfer now being finalised.

White had been on holiday up until now following his involvement with the England team at Euro 2020.

Arteta's decision to launch a big-money move for White places the future of William Saliba in doubt, with the Frenchman yet to make his senior debut for the club.

Xhaka deal 'stopped'

Granit Xhaka's proposed move to Roma may be on ice amid reports a fee is yet to be agreed.

According to Italian newspaper La Stampa (via TuttoMercato ), negotiations over a deal have 'stopped' as Roma are yet to get near the €20million (£17m) Arsenal are demanding for the midfielder.

It is believed personal terms have already been agreed between Roma and Xhaka's representatives, and Jose Mourinho is still keen to get a deal done.

Xhaka performed well for Switzerland at Euro 2020 and Arsenal are under no pressure to sell for less than their valuation.
