Arteta pleased with depth added to Arsenal squad in transfer window
Arsenal may have a free run at Ajax star Mohammed Kudus this summer, with Chelsea focusing on alternative targets. The Ghanaian looked set to be off the market earlier this month as Brighton advanced, but a spanner in the works has brought the Gunners back into the fold.
Kudus’ signature is coveted by several top Premier League sides after a scintillating 2022/23 campaign with Ajax. The 23-year-old also dazzled at last year’s World Cup, despite Ghana crashing out in the group stages.
Brighton therefore looked as though they had pulled off a major coup when they agreed a £34million deal with Ajax last week. However, the Seagulls haven’t been able to kick on in negotiations as a personal terms resolution could not be found with the player.
Chelsea and Arsenal are among those expected to pounce if it becomes clear that Kudus is once again up for grabs.

However, RMC Sport claim that the Blues have already thrashed out personal terms with Michael Olise. Swooping for the prodigious Crystal Palace winger would surely negate the need to push for Kudus, leaving Arsenal with a clear run.
The youngster joined Nordsjaelland as a teenager and was immediately phased into the first team. The Danish outfit are well-known for bringing through starlets that go onto big things, and Kudus took the leap to Ajax in 2020.

Fresh from bagging 18 goals across all competitions last campaign, the trickster now looks set for a Premier League move. Kudus is equally comfortable playing out wide or in an attacking midfield role, which would give Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta plenty of options.
The Spaniard’s summer window has been characterised by moves for similarly versatile players. Declan Rice can play as a holding midfielder or take up a box-to-box role, while Kai Havertz’s best position is still a mystery to many.
Jurrien Timber, meanwhile, was snapped up as a centre-back but started on the left side of defence in the Gunners’ Community Shield win over Manchester City last weekend.
The 22-year-old could put in a good word to Kudus – his former Ajax team-mate – if Arsenal are serious about capitalising on Chelsea’s Olise interest by bringing the Ghanaian to north London.
