Arsenal 'hold talks for Mason Mount move' after Chelsea talks stalled
Arsenal ‘hold talks over a shock move for Mason Mount’ as his contract stand-off at Chelsea continues… with Mikel Arteta and Co considering bringing him to the Emirates with close pal Declan Rice
- Arsenal have reportedly spoken to Mason Mount about his availability this year
- Mount looks set to leave Chelsea with just one year left on his Blues contract
- The Gunners will hope to entice Mount with his friend, West Ham’s Declan Rice
Arsenal have held shock talks with Mason Mount about his possible availability this summer, according to a new report.
Mount, 24, looks to be on his way out of Chelsea after a turbulent campaign on- and off-the-pitch – just 12 months after being named Chelsea player of the year for two consecutive seasons in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
The Gunners currently lead the Premier League for this season, and can confirm Champions League football for next season by beating Southampton on Friday night.
Conversely, Chelsea’s plight this campaign means that they will struggle to play any European football next season, yet alone the elite club competition.
This has increased the likelihood of England star Mount finding a home elsewhere, especially as he has just one year left on his deal, and contract extension talks at Stamford Bridge have stalled.

The Gunners lead the league now, and will almost definitely play Champions League football
Now Goal believe that Arsenal have spoken to the midfielder about Mount’s availability in the summer, with a wealth of Premier League sides thought to be in the hunt.
Liverpool are also thought to be interested in Mount’s services, as are Newcastle and both clubs in Manchester.
But while Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal might be a shock move to some, it could prove to be an attractive option, especially as the Gunners look favourites to sign West Ham’s Declan Rice – a close friend of Mount’s.

Mount has just one year left on his Chelsea contract, and any sale is likely to boost the Blues as they look to balance the books and cut costs amid a lack of income from European football.
The 24-year-old also announced his departure from Twitter on Thursday, amid the platform’s decision to remove verification from accounts that did not sign up to their Twitter Blue subscription service.
While Chelsea have the weekend off due to fixture rescheduling owing to the FA Cup semi-finals, Arteta’s Arsenal take on Southampton on Friday night.
Both clubs are then in action on Wednesday, the Blues hosting Brentford and the Gunners facing Man City in a match being viewed as a title decider.
