Arsenal have made formal contact with Stade Reims as they look to secure the services of £13m target Axel Disasi.
The Gunners have been monitoring the 22-year-old centre-back for some time and are set to increase their pursuit after an opening bid was rejected in January.
Disasi is out of contract next year and Reims have reluctantly accepted that their defensive star will not sign a new deal at Stade Auguste-Delaune.
And Mikel Arteta’s side have now formalised their interest once more ahead of a potential move this summer, according to Goal.
However, the former France youth international is also wanted by a number of clubs across Europe due to his appealing price tag.
Southampton and West Ham United are other suitors from England, while Monaco are monitoring the situation and there are a host of Bundesliga clubs also weighing up a move.
Indeed, French outlet RMC Sport – via GFFN – report that Reims have recently rejected three bids worth below €10m (£8.7m) for Disasi from one club in England – which isn’t Arsenal – one German club and one Spanish club.
As such, the Gunners are expected to escalate their pursuit as Arteta aims to land his target and shore up his defence for years to come.
