Arsenal have received a huge injury boost ahead of their clash with Manchester United this weekend with Thomas Partey set to be fit to start.
Partey limped off in the second half of the Gunners’ 3-1 win over Southampton and emerged as a doubt for Saturday’s huge clash with the Red Devils.
But Goal report Partey is on course to be fit to play having recovered well and made good progress ahead of the game.
Emile Smith Rowe also limped off against the Saints and Arteta was giving little away when asked about the pair this week.
“I don’t know,” said Arteta on Thursday.
“They had some discomforts in different parts, Thomas and Emile, and we will have to see how they evolve.
“We still have some days until the game but not long so let’s see how they recover.”
Whilst there is positive news on Partey, Smith Rowe seemingly remains a question mark, as does captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang has missed the last two games for personal reasons and this week revealed he had taken time away to spend time with his mother as she struggled with health issues.
The Gabonese striker revealed she was “much better” but it is unclear when he will return having left Arsenal ’s bubble.
“I spoke with him yesterday,” Arteta said on Thursday. “Things are looking better at the moment, but we are going to have to wait and see.
“He is our captain and one of the most important players. We are doing everything we can to have him as a quick as possible.
"But understanding that he has been through difficult days, that he had to support his family and we were here to support him as well with the time that he needed to get that support.”
When asked if Aubameyang had been abroad during the past week and would face any quarantine issues, Arteta said: “He had to support his family and he had to be with them. I don’t know what will happen.”
