Arsenal are facing two major hurdles in their attempt to land Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham. The Gunners are looking to bolster their frontline ahead of the new campaign but may be forced to turn their attentions elsewhere.
Abraham has piqued the interest of Mikel Arteta’s side after slipping down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old was a regular under Frank Lampard but played just 140 minutes of Premier League football after Thomas Tuchel took over in January.
Abraham failed to make the bench for some games last season and, with Romelu Lukaku set to move to Chelsea this summer, the striker will be looking for a way out of the club.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal have been handed a major blow after it emerged that Chelsea would prefer to let Abraham move abroad rather than lose him to a top flight rival.
Serie A giants Roma are apparently interested in landing the England international and want to complete a deal for the player before the end of this week.

But the frontman is thought to be keen to remain in England after building a reputation for himself as a potent Premier League goalscorer.
Abraham struck an impressive 15 goals in 34 Premier League games during his breakthrough season with Chelsea two seasons ago under mentor Lampard.
He had previously been a regular in the top flight during a loan period with Swansea City, and racked up the goals in the Championship during temporary spells with Aston Villa and Bristol City.
Arteta is desperate to land a goalscorer this summer after his side recorded their lowest Premier League goals tally since before Arsene Wenger’s era last term.

The north Londoners could only muster 55 goals as they came up short time and time again.
Alexandre Lacazette was the side’s top scorer with 13, but couldn’t command a regular first-team place and has been tipped for a move away from the Emirates this summer.
Arsenal face a second hurdle as they go in pursuit of Abraham as they will apparently need to offload players to raise funds before any deal can be completed.
Roma are prepared to offer Chelsea around £34million to land their man and are in a position to move quickly.
Lacazette could be one of the players to depart Arsenal in their search for cash, but any deal to take the France international away from the Emirates won’t be happening imminently.
Arsenal have already bagged themselves £22m from the sale of Newcastle-bound Joe Willock, while the likes of Hector Bellerin and Granit Xhaka have both been linked with moves away.
With the start of the season just days away, Arsenal will need to move fast if they are to take Abraham across the capital.
