While Arsenal have still to make their first signing of the summer transfer window, there has been no shortage of speculation linking players with a move to north London.
Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes appears close to signing for the Gunners, but Mikel Arteta will need more than just one new addition to reshape his squad.
There have been early signs of progress under Arteta, but new recruits are required for the Spaniard to accelerate Arsenal ’s development under his charge.
The next few weeks will be crucial in determining just how far Arteta can take the Gunners next season. Here are three of today’s biggest and most intriguing Arsenal transfer stories.
Arsenal reject Wolves offer for Maitland-Niles
Wolves have had an opening offer of below £20million rejected by Arsenal for Ainsley Maitland-Niles as the Gunners hold out for a bigger fee.
The 22-year-old is attracting attention from a number of Premier League clubs this summer, including Tottenham Hotspur, but Arsenal have rebuffed Wolves’ initial bid for the player, according to The Athletic.
The publication claims two clubs in Germany are preparing offers for Maitland-Niles, who has been identified by Arsenal as one of the players they can let leave this summer to fund other transfer moves.
It is claimed that Arsenal want at least £20m for the 22-year-old, who started in the FA Cup final win over Chelsea and has played more than 100 senior games.
Striker set for medical ahead of Leeds move
Sam Greenwood will undergo a medical with Leeds United as the young Arsenal striker moves closer to leaving the north London club.
Football.london understands Greenwood will join the under-23 ranks of the newly promoted Premier League club, with the 18-year-old missing from Arsenal’s squad for the pre-season friendly against MK Dons on Tuesday.
It is understood that Arsenal will receive an initial fee of £1.5m for Greenwood from Leeds, although add-ons included in the deal could see the cost of the young forward rise to £3m over time.
Another Arsenal academy graduate Tyreece John-Jules is expected to spend next season on loan, with a number of Championship clubs interested in taking on the promising striker.

Alexandre Lacazette is on Atletico Madrid’s radar and the Spanish club could offer a choice of three players as part of a deal for the Arsenal striker.
Marca (via Sport Witness) claims Atleti are aware of Arsenal’s interest in Thomas Partey, but are unwilling to include the midfielder in any offer for Lacazette.
Instead, Atletico Madrid could offer the Gunners their pick of Thomas Lemar, Angel Correa or Vitolo as a part of a deal for Lacazette, with the French striker having been linked with a move to the Spanish capital before he joined Arsenal in 2017.
Arsenal rejected a part-exchange offer from Atleti for Lacazette in the January transfer window, but it is claimed the north London club could now be more open to an offer due to a change in circumstances.
