As Arsenal prepare to round off their season by taking on Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley, fans will already be looking ahead to the Gunners’ impending transfer business.
Central midfield is likely to be a focus this summer, with new arrivals expected and others set to move on, and you’ll certainly be familiar with the names that have cropped up over the last 24 hours.
So here’s the latest on one of the Spain-based players linked with a switch to north London, as well as updates on two young talents who have been monitored by the Gunners over the last few months.
Arsenal could sign Roca for less than release clause
Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca is expected to leave the club following their relegation from La Liga, with interest mounting from all over the continent.
Arsenal and Everton are the two English clubs most keen on the 23-year-old, according to Spanish publication Sport (via Sport Witness), but AC Milan and Real Madrid are also in the mix.
The Gunners’ hopes of signing Roca may be boosted by Sport’s suggestion that Espanyol are prepared to lower their demands as they seek funds to help support a promotion push next term.
The midfielder, who was part of Spain’s European Under-21 Championship winning squad last summer, played his 100th La Liga game this season and featured in Espanyol’s run to the last 32 of the Europa League.
Gunners ‘complete deal’ for Norwegian winger
George Lewis is an Arsenal player having completed a move from Fram Larvik, according to the Norwegian side’s sporting director.
The 20-year-old winger has been linked with a move to London for some time, and Fram’s Jostein Jensen told VG.no (as translated by football.london): “Yes, we can confirm that. I have been told that he has signed for Arsenal.”
The youngster is expected to initially join up with the Gunners’ under-23 squad.
However, as we’ve seen with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, Arsenal haven’t been afraid to throw young players into the first-team if the manager believes they have the quality to succeed.
Deal draws closer for Portuguese prodigy
Arsenal could be ready to meet Sporting CP’s €45m (£40.9m) asking price for Joelson Fernandes, the 17-year-old talent who has broken through in Lisbon this season.
According to A Bola, via Eurosport, Sporting will not budge on their asking price for the youngster, who made his Primeira Liga debut at the start of July.
Joelson is represented by Kia Joorabchian, who is also the agent of Gunners target Philippe Coutinho, and is reportedly in Portugal negotiating terms over a move.

The teenager has made just four senior appearances for Sporting, but is highly rated by the club thanks to his exploits at age-group level.
He has scored five goals in 28 games for the under-23s this season, playing mostly as a left winger, and has also earned Portugal under-17 caps, having scored in a European U17 Championships qualifier against Albania.
