Arsenal: How much of a crisis are the Gunners in?
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says his side are entering “a crucial moment” as pressure on his job mounts following yet another defeat. The Gunners were beaten 4-1 in their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester City and now without a domestic win since a 1-0 victory at Manchester United at the start of November.
“Things have to turn around,” said Arteta. “This is a crucial moment for us in the season and we have to do it this week.
“I’m really feeling for the players, and obviously for our fans because something is happening every game for different reasons. But we need results.
“Obviously the two goals that we conceded (against Manchester City) put the game into a really difficult situation.
“The first one was a really soft one really early in the game. That obviously gives us the worst possible scenario in the situation we are in, a real test.
“The team reacted really well and after that we kept trying, we scored a really good goal.
“We started to be on top of the game for 25 minutes after that, I think we were the better team. Then in the best moment of the game, we conceded another soft goal.”
Express Sport has consulted bookies thepools.com to round up some predictions ahead of the Boxing Day clash.
The figures shown are based on how fans have been betting on the Arsenal and Chelsea markets.
A spokesperson said: “Arsenal are toiling, Chelsea flying – yet bookies thepools.com give the visitors just a 51.3% chance of success which is a great price.
“The Gunners are given just a 25% chance of success, which given a run of no Premier League wins since November 1 is understandable.
“Arsenal did beat Chelsea in last season’s FA Cup final, but the Blues were unbeaten in three meetings before that against their London rivals and won 2-1 at The Emirates last season.
“Both Teams To Score has come up in the last four meetings between the sides and thepools.com make that a 55.6% possibility.

“Chelsea have grabbed the first goal in three of the last four clashes with the Gunners and are given a 40% possibility of leading by half-time.”
Chelsea recovered from to back-to-back league defeats against Everton and Wolves to beat West Ham 3-0 last time out.
The Blues are in fifth place, six points off leaders Liverpool despite a nine-match goal drought for summer signing Timo Werner.
“I talk to him all the time but I don’t sense frustration,” said Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
“I think it’s clear that as a striker you want to be scoring regularly, as he has done in his career.
“But at the same time every striker has moments when the ball doesn’t drop for you for whatever reasons.
“The positive thing is he’s getting chances in games, he’s using his attributes to get into the box, he’s getting chances, so they’ll come.”
Arsenal vs Chelsea kicks off at 5.30pm GMT on Boxing Day.
