Arsenal will make an offer to sign Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic on loan, according to reports. Arsenal may soon be looking for a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette. And it appears Jovic is one name Mikel Arteta has identified.

Lacazette has entered the final year of his contract at Arsenal.

The Frenchman has started the last two Premier League matches but had to settle for appearances off the bench before then.

The 30-year-old is a favourite with Arsenal supporters but may not be offered a new contract.

Arteta said last month that a decision had yet to be made in terms of Lacazette’s future.

“Anything is possible,” the Spaniard said.

“He is our player, and I treat him like any other player, I’m not going to treat him differently because he has a year left or not a year left and that is what he deserves.

“It’s the situation that we have and we have to accept it. I cannot ask anything from the player… and it’s not an individual situation because it has a knock-on effect.

“All of this we have had to deal with in the past and still now, we have to see what the best option is for everybody at the end of the season.”

However, European football reporter Ekrem Konur says Arsenal are interested in signing Real outcast Jovic.

Arsenal want an initial loan deal but Real would look to recoup around £21million for the striker.

Konur tweeted: “Arsenal will make a loan offer for Luka Jovic with an option to buy to Real Madrid.

“Spanish giants want €25m to sell the Serbian striker.”

The Gunners would unlikely sign Jovic if Lacazette were to remain at the club, so it is likely the Serbian would be a direct replacement.

Jovic, 23, has struggled since joining Real from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019 for a fee of around £50m.

He has scored just two La Liga goals in 26 appearances and spent the second-half of last season back on loan at Frankfurt.

Jovic is yet to start in the league under Carlo Ancelotti this term but Arsenal could offer him a way out.

Arteta has played with a 4-4-2 formation in the last two league matches.

Arsenal beat Aston Villa 3-1 and Leicester 2-0, so could view Jovic as a player who would suit that system moving forward.
