Arsenal would be willing to accept a swap loan deal to send Granit Xhaka to Inter Milan in exchange for Christian Eriksen, according to reports in Italy.
The Swiss midfielder has been poor this season as Arsenal have struggled for results and find themselves in 15th spot in the table.
But Arsenal could have the perfect way of solving two problems in one with their side by swapping Xhaka for Eriksen.
Reports suggest Arsenal could send Xhaka to Italy on loan – possibly until the end of the season – and receive Eriksen on a short-term basis in return.
The Gunners have been dismal creatively, and have only scored ten goals in 12 Premier League games so far this season.
They’ve been crying out for some creative talent in the middle of the pitch, and have been tipped to go after a new playmaker in January.
Eriksen, who has been struggling in Italy since joining Inter Milan last January, is apparently on the market after losing the faith of Antonio Conte.
The Danish star is expected to leave the San Siro in January, with a return to the Premier League seeming most likely.
And it has been claimed that they’ve put Xhaka on their list of targets for the January window.
The Serie A challengers will apparently offer up Eriksen in exchange, but would prefer to loan him out rather than sell him permanently.
Reports have suggested Arsenal will look to offload Xhaka after his nightmare start to the campaign.
He’s been used as a central midfielder alongside either Thomas Partey or Mohamed Elneny, but has been disappointing so far.
Mikel Arteta has apparently given up on Xhaka and is now looking to sell him sooner rather than later.
Arsenal are expected to try and sign a new creative playmaker this January after exiling Mesut Ozil from their squad, though they are expected to miss out on Dominic Szoboszlai.
