Arsenal transfer targets Emiliano Buendia and Yves Bissouma could slot straight into Mikel Arteta’s midfield.
The Gunners boss is looking to strengthen his squad for a top-six challenge next season, having failed to secure any European football in the 2020/21 campaign.
It has seen the North London side get linked with Norwich’s star midfielder Buendia, having scored 15 goals and made 17 assists in the Championship this season.
While the news of Bissouma telling Brighton he wants to leave over the summer has left Arena quietly confident due to the Malian’s social media activity.
And successful transfers for the pair could see them go straight into the starting XI for the Gunners in the new season.
Buendia has been playing on the right of Norwich’s attack this season, with that option available for the Gunners if Bukayo Saka switches over to the left.
The Englishman has been started in the same position for Arsenal but his experience on the opposite with Gareth Southgate’s England would hold the youngster in good stead.
And the centre of the north London’s side attack would be handled by Emile Smith Rowe, taking the reins from Martin Odegaard on his return to Real Madrid.
With captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leading the line, it would be down to Bissouma and Thomas Partey to link up defence with attack.
The position next to the Ghanaian has now opened up as Dani Ceballos hinted at a return to the Bernabeu on his Twitter channel.
Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding would pair up at centre-back with Kieran Tierney in the left-back position.
But there may not be a space for Hector Bellerin as Arsenal have also been pursuing a deal for Buendia’s Norwich team-mate Max Aarons.
Bernd Leno would be the No.1 for Mikel Arteta, having missed just nine of the club’s 58 games this season.
The Gunners, though, could still provide the German with competition as they have looked into Brentford shot-stopper David Raya.
Arsenal’s 2021/22 XI – Leno; Aarons, Gabriel, Holding, Tierney; Bissouma, Partey; Buendia, Smith Rowe, Saka; Aubameyang
