Arsenal are reportedly keen on a move for Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez in order to strengthen their attacking ranks this summer. The 23-year-old, who is also understood to be a target for Tottenham, could become another casualty of Inter’s desperate financial situation if he is sold over the coming weeks.
The newly-crowned Italian champions have already seen Achraf Hakimi join Paris Saint-Germain for around £60million as they look to balance the books ahead of the new season.
Romelu Lukaku is reportedly next in line to depart, with Chelsea close to sealing his return to Stamford Bridge for a club-record fee of £97m.
The Belgian’s proposed exit suggests that Inter will look to keep hold of Martinez, but the possibility of a summer move to the Premier League remains.
Tottenham have been credited with a strong interest in the Argentina international, while Arsenal are also said to be keeping tabs on his situation at the San Siro.
However, it would not be the end of the world for the Gunners if Martinez stays put or eventually joins Spurs, with Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu able to pursue a number of exciting alternatives.

A move for Fiorentina striker Vlahovic could be an option for Arsenal, with the 21-year-old scoring for fun in Serie A last season.
He found the net on 21 occasions throughout the previous campaign, with his knack of finishing half-chances and formidable aerial prowess standing him in good stead to succeed at the Emirates Stadium.
Vlahovic is believed to be under consideration by both Tottenham and Arsenal, but if the former manage to push through a move for Martinez, it could boost the latter’s hopes of securing the Fiorentina man’s signature.
A potential fee of £52m has previously been mooted, but this figure would be worth every penny if Vlahovic can bring his prolific goalscoring form to north London.
Arsenal may also be inclined to go after Chelsea outcast Abraham, who looks set to leave Stamford Bridge before this month’s transfer deadline.
The 23-year-old has been left out in the cold under Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, who often preferred to deploy Kai Havertz in a striking role last season.
Despite his limited involvement, Abraham finished the campaign as Chelsea’s joint-top scorer in all competitions and is more than capable of starring at Premier League level.
He is likely to cost less than Vlahovic, with reports suggesting that Abraham is valued at around £40m, and his proven ability in front of goal could provide Arsenal with a much-needed cutting edge in attack.

Another realistic option could emerge in the form of Edouard, with the Celtic forward yet to sign a new contract at Parkhead after entering the final year of his current deal.
He was reportedly poised to join Leicester City before the Foxes opted to sign Patson Daka instead, potentially giving Arsenal a free hit.
Edouard’s current situation suggests that Celtic could accept a cut-price fee of around £18m as the Scottish giants look to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.
He has displayed quality in abundance during his time in Glasgow, and a move to Arsenal could prove to be a shrewd outcome for all parties, with the Gunners crying out for additional firepower at the top of the pitch.
