Aston Villa complain about sweaty shirts that are hindering performance

Aston Villa are reportedly fuming at the state of their sweaty Castore kits which are causing performance issues on the pitch by weighing down their players.

Last year, Villa inked a multi-year partnership with the sportswear company, who are also kit suppliers for fellow Premier League sides Newcastle United and Wolves. However, Unai Emery's side are said to be fuming and unhappy with the state of their kits.

While the 23/24 season is still young, Villa fans have noticed their kits this term quickly get darker and darker due to players sweating profusely, with some complaining their sweat drenched shirts are hindering their performances. The Telegraph report players and individuals behind the scenes at Villa Park are less than happy about the quality of the kits.

Villa's claret home kit becomes visibly darker during their matches, with Nicolo Zaniolo and Calum Chambers recently having been spotted having their shirts cling to them due to perspiration. A source told the Telegraph: "The players are having to play in soaking wet t-shirts and it is a problem that needs to be solved. It cannot go on all season. The players look like they’ve jumped in a swimming pool after about 10 minutes."

Castore and Villa are now also said to be working to resolve the kit issue, which makes the shirts uncomfortable and heavy. However, there is no confirmation as to when this issue will be resolved, something which could be a continued cause for concern.

With Villa having signed a multi-year deal with Castore, there is also every chance that this could jeopardise their partnership with the Premier League club. Castore are already set to lose Newcastle as a partner, with the Magpies having confirmed at the beginning of September they will return to wearing Adidas next season.

The 2023/24 season is a huge one for Villa, who have aspirations of challenging at the top of the Premier League following an impressive summer transfer window. While they looked to be potentially battling relegation at one point last season, the arrival of Unai Emery saw Villa go on a charge, finishing up with a spot in the Europa Conference League.
