Aston Villa respond to Manchester United's move for Jack Grealish

Aston Villa have offered Jack Grealish a new £100,000-a-week deal in a bid to get the midfielder to reject a move to Manchester United.

The 24-year-old was Villa’s player of the season as Dean Smith’s side survived Premier League relegation on the final day of the campaign.

United have tracked Grealish for the last 18 months and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been impressed by the manner in which the midfielder took the burden of keeping hos boyhood club in the league last term.

However, the Red Devils have cooled their interest in Grealish after Villa demanded £75m for the Birmingham-born ace, with United valuing him at closer to £55m.

Nevertheless, though a deal is not close, Villa know they must keep Grealish happy, particularly as he’s keen on a move to Old Trafford.

However, Villa’s billionaire owners are ambitious and they do not want to lose Grealish, as they fear it will be harder to attract other players to Villa Park.

The midfielder currently earns around £70,000-a-week at the club and the Sun claim he’ll be offered a five-year extension worth £100,000-a-week.

Grealish is set to speak with the club in the next week to discuss his future in the Midlands and though he’s keen on a move to the Theatre of Dreams, Villa’s survival has significantly boosted their chances of keeping him.

Dean Smith has reportedly been given a budget of around £100m this summer and the owners will give him an extra £70m-£80m if Grealish is sold.
