Atletico Madrid have announced that first-team players Yannick Carrasco and Mario Hermoso have both tested positive for COVID-19.
The pair are now in self-isolation at home and will be unavailable to Diego Simeone for Atletico’s LaLiga game at Cadiz on Sunday as they look to extend their seven-point lead at the top.
A club statement read: ‘Yannick Carrasco and Mario Hermoso tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday.

‘The Belgian and the Spaniard have been isolating at home, in compliance with the health authorities’ guidelines and the LaLiga protocols.
‘The club’s medical services are in permanent contact with LaLiga and its official laboratory.’
Both players started and played 90 minutes in Atletico’s last game – a 3-1 league win at home to Valencia last week.
Belgian international Carrasco, who rejoined Atletico on a four-year deal in September after leaving Dalian in the Chinese Super League, has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals.

The 27-year-old winger’s first stint at the club came from 2015-2018, when he memorably scored in the 2016 Champions League final against Real Madrid, which Atletico lost on penalties.
Spaniard Hermoso, meanwhile, came through the youth system at Real Madrid but joined Atletico from Espanyol in 2019.
He has missed just three league games all season for Simeone’s table-toppers and the 25-year-old has been an assured presence in defence.
