Aubameyang flies off on private jet as Arsenal contract saga rumbles on

It seems Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has found time to fit in one last break before he returns to Arsenal duty after the forward headed off in a private jet on Wednesday.

The Gunners are due to face Premier League champions Liverpool in the Community Shield at Wembley on August 29 as a result of winning the FA Cup at the start of the month.

With under 10 days to go until the traditional curtain raiser, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta would have been forgiven for wanting to get his team back in training ahead of facing Jurgen Klopp's all-conquering side next Saturday.

Instead, it appears many Gunners players are yet to return to their London Colney base with defender David Luiz spotted running on some hilly roads in Italy.

And it appears Aubameyang, who scored twice in the cup final win over Chelsea, has also made a trip to Italy if a post on his Instagram account is anything to go by.

After footage on his brother Willy's Instagram account showed the Gabonese striker boarding a private jet, the Arsenal skipper later shared a post on his own profile suggesting he had flown to Milan.

The Italian city is familiar to the 31-year-old having previously played for AC Milan between 2008 and 2011, before joining Saint-Etienne.

Aubameyang's trip happened with Arsenal still yet to formally announce a new deal for the talismanic forward, with his current contract expiring next summer.

While all indications point towards the former Borussia Dortmund attacker extending his stay in north London, that the deal has not been confirmed yet is likely to concern many Arsenal fans.

And with the pacy front man having jetted off to Italy, those worries are unlikely to be calmed with Aubameyang now in the last 12 months of his current contract.

Gunners fans will hope any deal is announced once Aubameyang returns from Italy, preferably before the crunch clash with Liverpool next weekend.
