Bellingham explains how Jadon Sancho has helped him settle at Borussia Dortmund

Jude Bellingham has opened up on how Jadon Sancho has been "very helpful" in helping him settle into life at Borussia Dortmund.

Former Birmingham City starlet Bellingham became the most expensive 17-year-old in history when he completed his £23million move from the Blues to the German giants last month.

While it is relatively uncommon for English players to move abroad, he was following in the footsteps of Sancho, who joined Dortmund from Manchester City for £7million three years ago.

Though Sancho is currently the subject of huge interest from Manchester United, the 20-year-old England international has found time to accommodate Bellingham during Dortmund training sessions.

And Bellingham took over the official Dortmund Twitter account to explain how his older teammate had helped him to find his groove in Westphalia.

"Jadon's been very helpful for me, not only is he great to play with but he always makes sure I understand what information the coaches are giving to us," Bellingham said.

The England U17 star also singled out fellow new signing Thomas Meunier – who arrived on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain – as the player he is "closest to".

Bellingham added: "Because we are living so close at the moment I have spent quite a bit of time with Thomas Meunier, we've played table tennis and he's helped me get home from training. Some guy!"

And when asked to name the toughest opponent he had faced in training so far, Bellingham did not choose a member of the dazzling forward trio of Sancho, Thorgan Hazard and Erling Haaland, but instead picked a combative midfielder.

"Axel Witsel, he is so strong but also so composed with the ball," Bellingham wrote.

Bellingham is expected to continue honing his trade alongside Sancho during the coming season, after Dortmund said the latter would not be leaving Signal Iduna Park this summer.

“Jadon Sancho will play with us next season,” sporting director Michael Zorc said on Monday. “The decision is final. I think that answers all the questions."
