Brighton vs Tottenham LIVE: Team news, line-ups and more ahead of Premier League fixture tonight

Tottenham travel to the Amex Stadium this evening to take on strugglers Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho’s side were defensively disappointing in Thursday’s 3-1 top-flight defeat by champions Liverpool – who have been far from their best in recent weeks – and will hope to respond with a win against the 17th-placed Seagulls here. Brighton are just four points off the drop zone, having played 20 Premier League games so far this term, and they have just one win in their last 11 outings in the division – a goalless draw against relegation rivals Fulham marking their last result.

Graham Potter’s men would narrow the gap to 16th Burnley – who came up short against Chelsea earlier today – with a win, while three points would keep Mourinho’s Spurs in the running for a European spot. With just four victories in their side’s last 11 Premier League showings, however, and with star striker Harry Kane out injured, Tottenham fans should not expect a straightforward night for their players on the south coast. Follow all the action at the conclusion of West Ham vs Liverpool.

WEST HAM 0-2 LIVERPOOL (74’)

West Ham look deflated now, and Liverpool the opposite. They’re confident, playing with a swagger and set to close the gap on Manchester City and Manchester United at the top of the league.

WEST HAM 0-2 LIVERPOOL (69’)

Shaqiri, having set up the goal, is replaced by Firmino. The former gets a warm hug from his manager.

GOAL! WEST HAM 0-2 LIVERPOOL (SALAH 68’)

Incredible! It’s world class again from Salah, who might have put the game beyond reach for West Ham. Liverpool break rapidly from a corner, with Jones sending a long diagonal out to Shaqiri. He spots the run of Salah in the box, picking him out with a floating cross. The Egyptian’s first touch is superb, and the second even better, a delicate, deft movement of the left foot to take the ball past Fabianski.

WEST HAM 0-1 LIVERPOOL (66’)

Another West Ham corner is swung into the box and Dawson attacks it, only able to connect with his shoulder. The ball loops over the bar, but the hosts are starting to force Liverpool into more defending now.

WEST HAM 0-1 LIVERPOOL (64’)

A West Ham corner almost drops for the imposing Soucek at the back post, but he fouls Henderson in his attempt to pull off an acrobatic volley. Brave defending from the Liverpool captain.

WEST HAM 0-1 LIVERPOOL (62’)

Jones attacks down the left, weaving inside then outside, but ultimately running the ball out of play for a goal kick.

West Ham send on Yarmolenko in place of Fornals.

WEST HAM 0-1 LIVERPOOL (61’)

Bowen tries to latch onto a ball in behind but Henderson, performing admirably again as a stand-in centre-back, comes across to dispossesses him. The flag’s up for offside, too.

GOAL! WEST HAM 0-1 LIVERPOOL (SALAH 57’)

Superb from Salah! Jones, having just come on, is heavily involved, driving forward with the ball and picking out Salah to his right. The Egyptian cuts inside, shifts the ball onto his left foot and curls his finish into the top corner. It’s a vintage Salah goal. Klopp hugs Milner on the touchline. Liverpool lead.

WEST HAM 0-0 LIVERPOOL (57’)

Liverpool make a change: Curtis Jones replaces Milner.

WEST HAM 0-0 LIVERPOOL (56’)

Close! Bowen runs into space on the right flank and then tries to pick out Antonio in the middle. The ball in isn’t great, but Milner slips, allowing the West Ham man to turn and shoot. His effort flashes just wide of the left post.
