Bruno Fernandes brutally told hes "night and day" behind "immortal" rival

Bruno Fernandes has been brutally told the difference between him and the "immortal" Kevin De Bruyne is like "night and day".

The Portuguese star cut a frustrated figure on Sunday as his Manchester United side were humiliated 4-1 by fierce rivals City at the Etihad.

City midfielder De Bruyne stole the show in the Manchester derby, bagging a first-half brace and an assist for the first of Riyad Mahrez's double in the thumping triumph.

Ahead of City's Champions League second leg against Sporting on Wednesday night, the Belgian playmaker was lauded by Joleon Lescott and Owen Hargreaves, but United's Fernandes was spoken of less favourably.

Former City defender Lescott waxed-lyrical about De Bruyne's contributions to Pep Guardiola's side before claiming the difference between him and Fernandes was like "night and day".

"He’s operating as an immortal, [even though] he hasn’t won it [the Champions League]," Lescott declared on BT Sport. "The weekend was a Kevin de Bruyne performance, it’s hard for me to compare.

"The comparison with Fernandes; it’s night and day. He operates at such a high level, this isn’t a surprise."

Though Lescott was quick to dismiss comparisons between De Bruyne and Fernandes, former City and United midfielder Hargreaves likened the Belgian creator to Liverpool and Premier League legend Steven Gerrard.

"He actually reminds me of Stevie G," Hargreaves admitted. "He can do everything.

"If you can create a perfect midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, Stevie G, it’s them. They can virtually do everything and they step up in moments."

Despite a 0-0 draw at home to Sporting on Wednesday night, Guardiola's current crop secured a quarter-final spot in this season's Champions League courtesy of their 5-0 success in Lisbon three weeks' ago.

City also hold a six-point advantage over Liverpool at the Premier League's summit, and though they possess a plethora of stars in their squad, Hargreaves stated he believes De Bruyne is the best in City's ranks.

He added: "As good as Manchester City are, he’s probably the best player they have and that says everything about him.

"He’s a breath of fresh air."
